Courses developed under the Carbon Zero NI programme will address the ever increasing need for skills and knowledge in the area of clean energy development in Northern Ireland.

Sustainable Homes and Energy Systems

This course will introduce a number of sustainable energy systems including: Solar water heating, Biomass heating systems, Heat pumps, Wind power, Photovoltaic Micro hydro, Energy from the sea, Geothermal, Anaerobic digestion, Energy storage and Hydrogen. Participants can sit an exam to receive a BPEC Renewables Awareness Certificate.

It will also cover issues for sustainable homes such as: Rain water harvesting and Grey water recycling, Water efficiency, Green roofs, Solar gain, Thermal stores, Passive homes, Carbon zero homes, District heating systems, Natural materials, Air tightness and Ventilation.

The course will run over a period of ten days and participants will have the flexibility of choosing and attending specific modules which are most relevant to their course of study.
