Carbon Zero Research Colloquium
Monday 6 June 2011
Lecture Theatre, Dungannon Campus, South West College

Carbon Zero NI is a sector wide initiative by the Further Education Sector providing technology development and innovation support to industry. It is led by South West College and aims to deliver an extensive array of practical training courses focused on developing a skilled workforce in sustainability including renewable or ‘alternative’ energy in Northern Ireland. The Programme supported by the Department for Employment and Learning aims to extend the regional and international reach of all six Northern Ireland Further Education Colleges in the provision of industry-linked R&D Services, specialist training and high quality advice in Sustainable Development.
One of the key aims of the Carbon Zero Programme is the development of smart, innovative, sustainable technologies. The Carbon Zero team is keen to ensure that Northern Ireland is best placed to exploit existing and emerging opportunities in the clean energy sector. This is supported by the current Research & Development under the Programme where the technical research is focused on the three key areas of growth in Northern Ireland – Wind Energy, Energy from Waste and Clean Energy Storage. These technologies have been identified as areas that require immediate support in relation to dedicated research and development as they are evolving rapidly at both a local and international level.
This Research Colloquium will disseminate results from Carbon Zero NI Research & Development activities.
