Carbon Zero NI: Skills development for the Sustainable Sector

This important conference will review the latest Government research into the future development of ‘green-collar’ jobs and explore how Northern Ireland can build a platform for growth by adapting current skills and resources to gain a position in the fast-growing green sector.    

It will facilitate expert insight and focused debate aimed at identifying new opportunities to accelerate the development of urgently needed skills…    


Anaerobic Digestion Opportunities, Barriers and Development Seminar

Belfast Metropolitan College has pleasure in inviting you to attend a seminar entitled “Anaerobic Digestion – Opportunities, Barriers and Development” on Friday 11th March 2011 in its Millfield Campus. The event will focus on local developments in the industry and feasibility of Belfast City Council developing an AD facility at the North Foreshore site in Belfast…

This free seminar will address the management of energy within buildings and business operations and the potential for significant cost savings. Speakers from both Public and Private Sectors will address the rationale of energy management and the practical implementation of energy management systems and sources of help to reduce energy costs. The seminar will also introduce the concept of carbon footprinting and its relevance within business operations…

Eco Show Live     

     

Carbon Zero NI is exhibiting at this year’s Eco Show Live in Belfast with a showcase of the work that Carbon Zero has done to date. The Eco-Show is a new and exciting exhibition at the King’s Hall Belfast. There are seven exciting Eco Zones illustrated by talks, seminars, teach-ins and live demonstrations. Carbon Footprinting Expert now at Carbon Zero     

     

Dr John Harrison, Clean Energy Storage Research Lecturer for Carbon Zero NI recently travelled to London to complete a intensive course on Carbon Footprinting and is now registered as a certified consultant for the Carbon Trust and Footprinting ExpertTM.  Measuring carbon emissions at every step of the supply chain (more…)     


Research Lecturer attends US Congress to learn more about biofuels from algae

     

Carbon Zero’s research lecturer in Energy from Waste, Dr Lorna Lawrence attended the World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing, held in Washington DC 27-30 June. Lorna’s main interest in this Congress was the ground-breaking work going on within the US on the use of algae as an alternative source of fuel (more…)
