Experience
In 2009 I completed an internship with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive Energy Conservation Unit. While there I undertook a research project to measure the effectiveness of the building energy rating and labeling system that is in place under the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.
When I completed my undergraduate degree in 2006 I applied for a teaching job in South Korea. I taught children aged between 4 and 15 English at a private language academy in Seoul for 14 months. Afterwards I travelled in China and Southeast Asia for 4 months before commencing university in The Netherlands.
Placement Expectations
My expectation is to go back to Northern Ireland with hands on experience specifically related to building energy performance. I want to gain experience to be able to apply a holistic thinking approach when making decisions regarding building energy efficiency and renewable integration.
